Opening up a business comes with a lot of new territory and confusion. Most business owners know that it is incredibly important to be on social media, but they don’t know where to start. Here are the first three steps to getting your business onto social media!
Create a Business Facebook and Instagram Page
A business Facebook page is different than a personal profile. You will need a Facebook profile in order to create a business Facebook page. Once the Facebook page is set up, head over to Instagram and create a profile. In the beginning, this will be the same as a personal profile.
Pro Tip #1: Have more than one person as an admin on your business page! These pages are connected to your profile, you will also lose access to the page if you lose access to your profile.
Pro Tip #2: Unless you are your brand – set everything up under the business name, logo, and information!
Convert the Instagram Page into a Professional Page
After the Instagram page is created, go to settings and convert the page into a professional page. I attached screenshots below on how to find the “switch to professional account” button.
Connect your Instagram Profile to the Facebook Page
Facebook now has the Meta Business Suite that offers a wealth of information and benefits. One of the benefits is the ability to schedule posts in advance on both the Facebook and Instagram pages. In order to utilize the feature to go to both accounts, we will need to connect them. On your Facebook page, find “settings” on the left-hand side. Then find “Instagram” and follow the prompts to connect the Instagram account.
Once you follow these steps, you’ll be ready to start to create content to get in front of your community and potential clients!
